THIS THAT UNLEASHES KILLER LINEUP

By Liz Ansley August 2, 2016

Pulling an absolutely rock solid second year lineup out the wazoo today, THIS THAT have unleashed one of the biggest and best Newcastle has ever seen.

Joining the recently announced ScHoolboy Q (for his only Australian festival appearance this year) are the creme-de-la-creme of party music. Move over 2015, 2016 THIS THAT is a banger factory of epic proportions. Among a massive contingent of local producers are Hermitude, L D R U, Peking Duk, SAFIA and Moonbase Commander.
Some bad-ass ladies take to the stage this November too with Swedish swagger pop-songstressElliphant returning to our shores. She’s joined on the bill by hip-hop game changer Sampa The Greatand explosive newcomer Jess Kent.
Is that Dancin’John Doe? Maybe it’s Jimmy Recard… actually no, it’s Drapht. The Perth rapper is front and centre on the bill, joined by fellow WA collective Koi Child and Brisbane indie rockers Ball Park Music.
It’s all there. THIS Stage and THAT Stage are back as is the weird and wonderful OTHER – another world full of spectacle and a place to get delightfully lost. Enter the portal and be pampered on a daybed like a gypsy prince or princess at the Love-Sik Bay or transform into your wildest dreams with a stylised photo shoot. The Other is the ultimate bohemian chill zone, a fairy light enclave and a La La Land for the legendary. There’s music there too! Over on the Other Stage, triple j late night ravers Luen & Shantan Wantan Ichiban join a killer local lineup, dropping the latest and greatest from underground and across the globe.
Oh, did we mention? The food is absolutely next level. There are no soggy hot dogs or substandard dimsims allowed. Last year saw over 20 of Sydney’s best food trucks make the trek north for the occasion and this year, BBQ Hill and Grill Hill deliver everything from dinosaur ribs, giant turkey legs to skewered fired meats and Spanish fired octopus grills. It’s a global BBQ and Grill journey from smokey Texas to char-grilled Vietnam. Pair this with curated cocktails, small batch breweries and whimsical wineries, and THIS THAT is firing on all fronts.
Premium lineup, premium eats and drinks and premium good times. The party starts this November with tickets on sale 9:00am AEST, Thursday August 11.

WHAT THEY SAID ABOUT THIS THAT 2015

I don’t care how good your Halloween party was – THIS THAT nailed it.
– Music Feeds
This That did a great job of entertaining festival-goers with local, in-demand acts, establishing an intimate, boutique vibe that will surely draw crowds back to Newcastle in the future.
– The Music
I was proud and exhilarated to experience THIS THAT, Newcastle’s first-year festival on the Foreshore, especially because it was such a success.
– The Electronic Current (US)
[THIS THAT delivered] a unique experience and boutique vibe that should send fans scrambling for tickets once again next year.
– Howl & Echoes
