Robbie Miller‘s star continues to rise and this morning’s performance for triple j’s Like A Version certainly won’t deter the rapidly-swelling audience he’s attracting with every step of his seemingly-effortless career. Covering ‘Say My Name’, originally by Seattle EDM duo Odesza he moved out of his comfort zone with song selection, but soon made it his own, delivering the once d-floor anthem as a haunting and beautiful soundscaped piece.
Vocally, Robbie flipped the vocal gender – usually handled by the Grammy-nominated Zyra – on its head and lent his sublime pipes to the song, arguably capturing the song in a more honest space. In addition, he also played his own compostion and former j-rotation staple ‘The Pain’.
There’s no shortage of news for Robbie Miller moving into the future. Firstly, his latest single ‘Road’ is spinning on regular rotation of the national youth broadcaster while his touring schedule will take in 10 dates as the main support for Dustin Tebbutt. The remaining action-packed months of 2016 sees plenty of Robbie Miller action. For starters, he will make good on the firm promise made last year with ‘The Pain’, debut single ‘Sunday’ and debut EP The Faster The Blood Slows by releasing his second full EP, just another early, top shelf chapter in what will be an astonishing career.
