|IV League return with blazing new single ‘Lose Me’, receiving first play via triple j’s Good Nights and premiering online via Purple Sneakers this week.
A sonic shift in gears for the Melbourne duo, ‘Lose Me‘ is a pensive cut from their forthcoming debut EP, set for release next year. Following upbeat triple j favourite, ‘Superstar‘, their latest single is a stark polarisation that is “a self-reflection of sorts, assessing my feelings at a pretty dark and confusing time in my life in which I was feeling really scared and anxious about the transition from adolescence into early adulthood”, IV League‘s Bella Venutti (vox, guitar) explains.
The track traces the experience of lacking direction and control and sees Bella Venuti’s autobiographical storytelling unobscured and at the forefront, stronger than ever. In Bella’s own words, the track is “a plea both to my self and those around me to not give up and stick it out as I worked to break though this mental block and feel stronger. This song also deals with the mental warfare we put ourselves through as musicians and artist, and moments when you stop to wonder what drew you to create initially, a desire for validation or the desire to express yourself?”
Like previous single, ‘Superstar‘, ‘Lose Me‘ sees the band employ the assistance of producerMalcolm Besley (City Calm Down, The Creases, Northeast Party House, Client Liaison) who has bolstered the duo’s burgeoning sonic identity. Proving themselves to be one of the best live bands in the country to a packed out crowd at their BIGSOUND 2019 showcase, fans can catch IV League on the road at a string of festival performances from November 2018-March 2019.
