Formally introducing you to Bee Virginia, the Melbourne-based singer and songwriter who has seemingly emerged fully-formed with debut single ‘Won’t You’ and the recently-released remix by Andy Bull.
A warm concoction of neo-soul, blues and jazz-infused R&B, the single is an emotional trip that both uplifts and soothes the soul simultaneously. She describes the single as a farewell to her previous moniker “Lover”, a project that served her well, receiving accolades in Melbourne and abroad with singles like debut ‘Blood’ and the collaboration with Falir ‘What Does It Take’.
Now operating under her own name, Virginia promises something more lyrically honest and more organic in execution. With a new single poised for release in the next month, the foundation of Bee Virginia’s project is off to a great start – Sydney artist Andy Bull spotted her online and immediately offered it a remix. The result, “… a housey poolside jam”, showing the blatant diversity and talent of both artists.
