GYPSY & THE CAT ‘VIRTUAL ISLANDS’ LP OUT NOW

By Liz Ansley August 5, 2016

Gypsy & the Cat

Today is a bittersweet day for supporters of Gypsy & The Cat. Not only is today the release day of their new, third album Virtual Islands, but also it will be the last album Xavier and Lionel will ever make.

Already boasting three big singles – ‘Inside Your Mind’, ‘I Just Wanna Be Somebody Else’ and ‘Life’– and featuring some of their best material and bravest production to date, the album is a must for existing fans, pop lovers in general and completists who perhaps embraced the band’s biggest hits ‘Jona Vark’, ‘Time To Wander’ and ‘Bloom’.

With every final album comes a farewell tour to satiate fans one last time. The band recently took to Facebook to announce that they’ve achieved all the things the project set out to: “We are incredibly proud of the catalogue of music that we’ve built along the way,” they said. “We are like brothers, Lionel and I, and this is in no way a sad or bitter thing, we speak every day in fact, instead it’s more of a decision to keep growing as individuals and explore our artistic limits in different incarnations.”  READ THE FULL STATEMENT HERE.

A career brimming with dizzying highs and occasional lows, Gypsy & The Cat have experienced it all – ARIA and Hype Machine charting singles, ARIA award nominees, three songs in the triple j Hottest 100, plus international chart and touring feats across Europe. Their success should be celebrated and celebrated it will, with their last album tour one of the only remaining chances to see these new songs (and old) performed to a live audience.
