Perfectly timed for hitting the road this week on their Further/Deeper Part 1 Tour, Australia’s seminal outfit the church have just premiered their “haunting” new video for ‘Pride Before A Fall‘ via Rolling Stone Magazine in the USA.
The relationship with the magazine was one consummated in 2009 when writer and long time fan David Fricke assigned a staggering five stars to the band’s album at the time. The video is a remarkable feast for the eyes, featuring some rather confusing imagery from director Clint Lewis and shot in Brisbane.
“A dodgy edifice is constructed from myths and legends and deadly sins. The whole damn thing starts to give as the dwellers strain the infrastructure, until it all falls down,” frontman Steve Kilbey told Rolling Stone. “Oh yeah, the church are in it too!”
In other news, the church will be marking their 35th anniversary in 2015 with a very special interview at the South By South West Music Conference in Austin, Texas.
But in the meantime, they start their long-anticipated Further/Deeper Part 1 Tour this week in Canberra and Sydney, before moving onto Melbourne and Brisbane the next. This isn’t a band indulging the RSL circuit in the slightest, instead the church continue to design the road map for others to follow.
