The Boat People
want you to find the antidote to musical boredom – dance it away.
They are providing this salve to their fans via radio in the form of a brand, spanking new double A-side and remix package.
Both ‘Dance to My Pain’ and ‘Antidote’ and their upbeat, dancey vibes made them the perfect candidate for remixing and dance party radio playlists. To celebrate these tracks hitting radiowaves around Australia, The Boat People are hitting venues throughout Victoria (Melbourne), New South Wales (Sydney and Newcastle) and Queensland (Brisbane).
This special package for radio features the 1, 2 hit of anti-boredom of The Boat People’s latest Dear Darkly album cuts ‘Antidote’ and ‘Dance to My Pain.’
New South Wales big-beat maestros No Device and Victorians Ming the Merciless provide the remixes for the package. No Device brings the beats for remixes of both tracks – ‘Antidote’ and ‘Dance to Pain’ and Ming the Merciless bust out their ‘Antidote Pantydote’ remix.
The two tracks (a radio edit of ‘Dance to My Pain’ and ‘Antidote’) are engineered and produced by James O’Brien, who penned The Boat People’s Triple J-spun single, ‘Damn Defensive’.
This is all after what has been a busy and fantastic year for The Boat People – the Bedroom Philosopher tour, a self-headlined tour and the release of their album, Dear Darkly and the 3 subsequent singles, ‘Soporific’, ‘Under The Ocean’ and ‘Echo Stick Guitars’.
The Boat People are without doubt one of Queensland and Australia’s hardest-working and talented bands. They’ve played The Great Escape UK, CMJ Music Marathon NYC, toured the UK twice and the US three times including shows at SXSW, The Viper Room, Spaceland, Pianos and a live set on Morning Becomes Eclectic KCRW as well as rotation on over 20 radio stations across the US and a bunch of TV syncs to boot. They’ve also nabbed slots at some of Australia’s biggest festivals and supported David Byrne, The Shins and Midlake.
Those three acts are a good place to start to describe the band’s sound – expansive, unconventional pop with a blush of wry optimism and romance.
The double A-side remix package will be made available to radio for plays on 12th October.
