Arriving back to Australia after showcase performances for Musexpo and Music Matters across the UK, USA and Hong Kong, Drawn from Bees last week got straight back on a plane to play The Gaelic in Sydney for the first show to launch a national tour in support of their May 21 released album Fear Not The Footsteps Of The Departed.

Fear Not… is the band’s most multi-layered and complex release to date, juxtaposing Drawn from Bees’ most heartbreakingly beautiful songs with their most intellectual rock concepts and experimental soundscapes – sampling choirs and iPhones alike amongst almost spiritual laments of loss and love.

New single ‘Stand Against The Storm’, recently added to triple j rotation, is another excuse for Drawn from Bees to show off their brilliant four-part harmonies, as Dan James adds a captivating dose of front-man theatrics to the mix.

Fear Not…  puts to bed a two-year long project for the Brisbane four-piece, who’ve been studiously fulfilling their self-imposed goal of writing, recording and releasing a new body of work every six months during this time. With the album hitting the shelves, their four releases to date are now housed together as a special limited-release box set titled Elementary Tales For Young Girls & Boys, available at shows and through Bonefinger Records.

TIMOTHY CARROLL – 'DANSHYTTAN' SONG OF THE YEAR 2009

August 19th, 2009 | By tyler

The 4th annual Q Song Awards were held at Brisbane’s Tivoli theatre last Tuesday night to celebrate the next generation of Queensland songwriters.

Mucho-Bravado was most proud to be represented by three outstanding artists in Timothy Carroll, Tara Simmons and Hungry Kids of Hungary, who all went head to head in the Folk/Ballad, Alternative and Courier Mail People’s Choice award.

Timothy Carroll was the darling of the night, and the only overall multiple award winner taking out the coveted Song of the Year, and also Folk/Ballad category with the worldly charming ‘Danshyttan’. This follows glowing accolades across the music press for his debut album For Bread & Circuses, as well as mainstream press including The Australian, and Courier Mail.

Hungry Kids of Hungary took out the Alternative category with triple j favourite ‘Set It Right’, cementing the win with a live performance of two tracks from the new EP Mega Mountain.

Congratulations to all the winners on the night!
