Emma Dean Nominated For The Courier Mail People's Choice Awards

Vote Now for ‘Orange Red’ – www.couriermail.com.au/qsong

Fresh off the high that was a sell-out show for Emma Dean’s album launch of Real Life Computer Game, we are now proud to announce that one of the songs from the album – ‘Orange Red’ – has been announced as a finalist for the 2008 Courier Mail People’s Choice Awards. From midnight tonight until 11:59pm on Monday, July 7, you can head to the Courier Mail’s website and vote for the song.

The stunning ‘Orange Red’ is the centrepiece and one of the quieter moments on Emma’s otherwise theatrical debut. The song is another confessional piece and, as always, has a real story to tell:

“Originally this song was written about a boy I loved who was going through a tough transition in his life,” she reveals. “When I sing it now, it simply reminds me how powerful it is to stick by someone even when they are in their ugliest hour – to hold someone’s hand through the truly horrible times. When the sky is orange red and the fire is burning it takes courage and strength to face these flames together.”

emma dean - real life computer game

Finally, the southern states will get a dose of what lucky Queenslanders have been treated to for years. And this time, she’s bringing her full live band.

Up until now, Emma has only ever travelled out of her hometown of Brisbane either as a soloist or with an additional musician or two. The full live experience of Emma Dean and band is a serious force to be reckoned with.

Hot Liquid Sex - Unexpect the Expected

Hot Liquid Sex would like to thank each and every single person who contributed to last weekend’s success of the Unexpect the Expected EP launch at the Zoo. The girls played to a solid crowd of close to 350 and were joined on-stage by Emma Dean (with a night highlight of The Darkness’ ‘I Believe In A Thing Called Love’), Lucas Arundall and Jimi Beavis. Also playing on the night was the sublime Princess One Point Five from Melbourne as well as great rock sets from Skinny Jean and The Art Of The State.

The media and press support was incredible with interviews played all over. Below are some highlights:

106! TV TALKS TO RUTH & ANGE PRE-LAUNCH (this is excellent)

As for the EP, well it will hit media, radio and online retail really soon. It will be closely followed by a video or two and will also give the band their first opportunity to play in Sydney and Melbourne as they will undertake their very first interstate tour later in the year. But for now, be content with a forthcoming show at Ric’s, oh, and a mighty fine shiny piece of plastic with six brand spanking new tracks of pop/rock goodness.

Hot Liquid Sex play Ric’s Thursday, June 12 with Vaudeville (Newcastle)
