Indie electronic phenom Roosevelt (Marius Lauber) releases new single ‘Under The Sun’, a blazing supernova of polished synth driven ecstasy. It’s the first hint of the sparkling labyrinth the sophomore record ‘Young Romance‘ promises, and it’s out now. The full length will land September 28, out via Greco-Roman/City Slang.
While his acclaimed, debut album was deeply rooted in club culture, follow-up Young Romance sees the 27-year-old producer and songwriter embracing a newfound love for bigger, bolder, and sunnier pop songs. Lauber examines escapism and wistfulness in equal measure, documenting his own artistic transitions and personal experiences along the way. “I ended up processing a lot of emotions that I felt during my youth,” he says. “Faded relationships that haunted me for years, being on the road for what seemed like forever, and the constant search of a place to call home.” The euphoric first single ‘Under The Sun’ drips with sun-drenched nostalgia while a melancholia lurks just below the surface.
In the two years since the release of his self-titled debut album, Roosevelt has earned praise from outlets including The Guardian, Pitchfork, NPR Music, The Wall Street Journal, Stereogum, Paste, The Independent, became an in-demand remixer (CHVRCHES, Rhye, and Glass Animals, to name a few) while maintaining a relentless touring schedule including huge festival slots on global stages at Governors Ball, Lovebox, SXSW, Glastonbury, Pukkelpop and Melt.
Young Romance was written and finished in 6 months and features his first collaboration with Washed Out (‘Forgive’). Lauber locked himself up with a pile of vintage synthesizers in his newly built studio in his hometown, where he wrote the record, and later traveled to Los Angeles, where he completed it. Once again working with Chris Coady (Beach House, Grizzly Bear, Future Islands), who mixed the record at the legendary Sunset Sound studios, Young Romance propels Roosevelt into uncharted territory. Now less reliant on a four-to-the-floor kick drum as a rhythmic backbone, this sophomore record sees him embrace grooves of all shapes and sizes.
The release of Young Romance will see Roosevelt in good company, with his label Greco-Roman (Joe Goddard, Disclosure, Tirzah) taking care of business in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Asia, while City Slang(Caribou, Gold Panda, Broken Social Scene) will release in the rest of the world.

PRAISE FOR ROOSEVELT
‘…. if first single “Under The Sun” is any indication, the record finds Lauber going bigger, brighter, and cleaner with his effervescent pop hooks’
‘Under The Sun’ is a sparkling yet slightly bittersweet return, with the nuanced lyricism matching gleaming production to some darker moments.’
– Clash Magazine
‘Roosevelt’s [self titled] debut, is a cocktail of disco, French touch, Ibiza house, yacht rock, and electropop that evokes some crowded Tiki-torch dancefloor lost on the Mediterranean coast.’
