Today, Brisbane based singer-songwriter Robbie Miller announces a short run of East Coast dates in support of his earnest ode to love at first sight; ‘Baby’.
After stepping away from the spotlight to record his forthcoming debut LP, Miller’s new single ‘Baby’ is a triumphant return to form. Staying true to his folk roots, the singer draws deeply on his own experiences, explaining “[‘Baby’] is a song about seeing someone in a room and falling for them. And it’s a true story! It’s my story. It is exactly the kind of thing I was never okay singing about before, but now being that honest and open is something I have become much more comfortable with.”
The track was written by Miller, produced by Alex Heriksson (Matt Corby, Tia Gostelow, Moreton, The Ruins) at Plutonium Studio in Brisbane and was mixed by Matt Neighbour (Matt Corby, Missy Higgins, The Temper Trap, Jen Cloher, Alexander Biggs).
Laying himself bare, ‘Baby’ sees Miller return with a newfound confidence, assured in his musicianship and in the enduring power of love. Sharing ‘Baby’ is the first taste of Miller’s forthcoming debut album, due out in early 2019.
He first gained national attention in 2013, after taking out triple j Unearthed’s National Indigenous Music Award (NIMA) for Best New Indigenous Talent. This was followed by the release of his duo of EPs: Closer To Home and The Faster The Blood Slows, both of which were championed by triple j and Double J, with Miller enjoying multiple rotation adds to both networks and saw him take on an ODESZA cover for Like A Version. Last year the singer/songwriter took home the APRA Award for ‘The Pain’ in the Blues and Roots category.
He’s toured extensively on a national scale, including headlining East Coast runs, BIGSSOUND showcases, festival slots at Groovin’ The Moo, St Kilda Festival, Woodford Folk Festival and supporting the likes of Josh Pyke and Dustin Tebbutt. This December will see Robbie Miller return to the national stage for three intimate East Coast dates, armed with a new sense of self, and an exciting new repertoire.
