THE BASICS….are they smarter than a 5th grader?

The Basics in London

Have music, will travel…

Encompassing the far reaches of rural and outback Victoria, Western Australia, the Northern Territory, Queensland and South Australia, Melbourne trio The Basics are donning their immaculately tailored suits and heading off the rock and roll beaten track, daring to visit territories many bands rarely tread. As part of the government’s Contemporary Music Touring Program, The Basics will be taking their harmonious pop melodies to High Schools around the country as well as playing some of the most rural and remote areas outback Australia has to offer. The Contemporary Music Touring Program aims to give all Australians, wherever they live, better access to some of the country’s best live contemporary music.

For an exclusive audience of teachers and students, all Basics High School shows are in support of national counselling organisation Lifeline and are free; however a gold coin donation upon entry is encouraged to help this invaluable support service. Lifeline is a national 24 hour, seven day a week counselling hotline and is staffed by teams of dedicated volunteers.

The Basics are doing their best to ensure that no-one misses out on the chance to party. Located over 1,750 kms from Darwin, Haast’s Bluff, Papunya and Mount Liebig are remote Aboriginal communities located on Aboriginal land where permits are required to visit.

The Basics are proud to announce that local Haast’s Bluff act The Sunshine Reggae Band will support them throughout the rural communities, before taking the band on to support them in Darwin where The Sunshine Reggae Band will play their first-ever Darwin show.

Playing a whopping 22 shows from the Maribyrnong Detention Centre in Victoria, to the Papunya Community Centre in the Northern Territory to Mt Isa Catholic High in Queensland and every conceivable school and town in between, The Basics are kicking into overdrive on a tour which will literally set their odometer spinning.

How will their immaculate suits weather the outback?

Only time will tell…
