Flowertruck’s glistening debut LP Mostly Sunny is OUT TODAY via Spunk Records. Including singles ‘Dying to Hear’, ‘Enough For Now’ and ‘Come Across’, Flowertruck will take the record on an east coast tour hitting Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Woolongong and By The Meadow festival next month.
|It’s always Spring time where Flowertruck is. The Sydney four-piece’s ten track debut Mostly Sunny, out today, flourishes with 10 tracks of synth charged indie rock. With the greenest thumbs in Aussie music, they’ll make blossoms bloom in even the darkest corners of the aggrieved music cynic’s mind. Equal parts joyous, lifting instrumentals, recurring lyrical themes of uncertainty, growing pains and a healthy dose of quintessential Aussie self depreciation, Flowertruck have planted a garden in the sweet spot between melancholy and exuberance. The yield: Mostly Sunny.
Fittingly, the debut album was recorded at The Grove with Richard Belkner (PVT, Bertie Blackman, Brendan Maclean), mixed by Matt Voigt (Big Scary, Twerps, Cat Power) and mastered by John Lee (Lost Animal, Emma Russack, Totally Mild, Ocean Party). Following on from their 2015’s EP Dirt, and inspired by the trials of constant touring, Hamish Dobinson (Guitar) explains the new record Mostly Sunny as “kind of our coming of age as a band and signals a new era in Flowertruck. Our EP was our adolescence not only as a band but also as musicians. The LP is a marker of our development together as a band and in our musicianship from so much bloody touring.”
They’re back on the road come April in their biggest headlining tour to date – surely planting the seeds for album number two. They’ll be tearing up and down the East Coast in support of the new record, stopping over in Melbourne, Bamba, Sydney and Brisbane.
