Fresh from dazzling the crowds on the triple j Unearthed stage at BIGSOUND this year, AYLA has announced the release of her upcoming debut self-titled EP with a brand new single ‘When The World Ends’, and a whirlwind run of intimate headline shows in November.
Syncopated, breathy and heady with somewhat cynical lyrics and more than just a touch of heartache, ‘When The World Ends’ showcases AYLA’s commanding signature vocal style and stylish, left-of-centre pop sensibilities.
Spending the past 12 months going from strength to strength, AYLA has achieved the enviable feats of inking an international deal with Italian label Ego (Emma Louise, The Jezabels), and playing with a plethora of Aussie heavyweights including ASTA and Husky.
It’s almost unfathomable that someone who hasn’t yet left their teen years could display such a natural songwriting prowess, but AYLA is nothing short of exceptional and, it seems, everything she touches turns to gold. Her previous single ‘Wish I Was’ can claim the accolade of being the most played track by a solo female artist and the 15th most played track on triple j in 2014. Meanwhile, the powerful ‘Waiting’ is still on rotation.
‘When The World Ends’ teases yet another taste of AYLA’s eagerly-awaited debut EP, ahead of its November 6 release date and launch tour.
