CHAIRLIFT ANNOUNCE LANEWAY FESTIVAL SIDESHOWS

November 24th, 2011 | By

Brooklyn indie electro-pop duo Chairlift return to Australian shores in 2012, set to entrance audiences with shows at Laneway Festival and exclusive sideshow performances in Sydney and Melbourne.
Members Caroline Polachek and Patrick Wimberly first captured the attention of international listeners with their breakout single ‘Bruise’ and debut record Does You Inspire You in 2008.  They displayed a range of uncanny pop sensibilities, combining polished production with an other-worldly gaze similar to fellow Brooklyn experimentalists MGMT, Yeasayer and Mixel Pixel.

Chairlift have spent the last year huddled away in the spare room of an antique shop, producing their forthcoming record Something (due out early 2012).  First single ‘Amanaemonesia’ was released in September – its upbeat synth haze, exotic percussive layers, and husky vocals ensuring their certified presence on Australian radio station triple j and airwaves across the country.

Chairlift will be previewing works from their upcoming album in Australia at Laneway Festival and their only Australian headline appearances in Sydney on Tuesday January 31st, and Melbourne on February 7th.
