CITY RIOTS – ‘Matchsticks’ Official Video
November 9th, 2011 | By
The days are getting longer, the nights are getting balmier and the summer sessions are starting. City Riots’ current single ‘Matchsticks’ proves to be a fitting release for the current climate with its breezy, reverb-laden hooks and jangly guitar line. The timing couldn’t be better for the release of the official video – a documentary style clip filmed wholly on Super-8.After discovering and developing an old bucket of Super-8 film in their parents’ house, footage of their folks from when they were their age was unveiled. This was the catalyst to create something of their own, with this nostalgic technique.
Using Super-8, a film stock that was synonymous with the 60s, the film clip captures the four-piece away from the usual musical surroundings, offering an exuberant insight into the personality of this indie-pop outfit.
‘Matchsticks’ is the first single lifted from their most recent EP release of the same name. With an abundance of fulsome reviews, the general consensus pins this track as potential summer stand out.
City Riots hit the road next week with WA rockers Gyroscope on their ‘Choose Your Own Adventure Tour’.
