Charlie Mayfair Tell All

November 2nd, 2011 | By

As 2011 draws to a close, Charlie Mayfair are certainly not winding down with it. The sonically sensational Brisbane outfit are seeing the year out on tour with both emma louise and Husky as well as sought-after festival appearances at the Woodford Folk Festival and Brisbane’s No Years. And what a year it’s been for the five piece!

The release of single ‘Tell Her’ was the first glimpse of a darker, edgier sound departing from their previously fantastical pop melodies. The rich authenticity of this track unleashed the promise that the five-piece have always shown, detonating under the eyes of an ever-growing fan base, media and industry alike. Whilst consistently admirable reviews surfaced, ‘Tell Her’ secured momentum on community radio nationally, in particular FBi, SYN, 2SER and 4ZzZ. National broadcaster triple j showed it’s support with the single being featured on Australian music show Home & Hosed’s radio ad on top of regular spins.

With an impressive local touring resume to their name most recently including supports for Owl Eyes and The Panics, Charlie Mayfair’s live show stands strong, with performances that are the product of a regularly touring band. The remarkable feat of selling out hometown music venue, the zoo, to kick off their own east coast tour earlier this year, is a testament to this.

With a ground swell of support behind the quintet, the adventures continue as they support fellow Brisbanite emma louise on the east coast dates of her headline tour and Husky on the QLD leg of his tour backing his debut album. Additionally, Charlie Mayfair will be preforming at the four-day Woodford Folk Festival before counting down to midnight with a New Years performance at No Years alongside Dum Dum Girls, Jonti and many more.

Weaved with showing off their wares, Charlie Mayfair will also be continuing to record with local producer Matt Redlich (Hungry Kids of Hungary, Ball Park Music) ensuring another release early next year.

“Best thing you’ve done so far!” (Tell Her) Dom Alessio – triple j

“A beautifully produced lush pop track. It’s a little bit epic and a little bit folky at the same time” (Tell Her) Dan Buhagiar – triple j

“The blissful sounds of new single ‘Tell Her’ are enough to convince most of their songwriting prowess and deliver an anticipation for upcoming material” Time Off

“Brisbane six-piece Charlie Mayfair are a dynamic group. Their songs are epic with tribal drumming and ethereal vocal harmonies dancing through a complex array of soundscapes and eerie synths.” Rave Magazine
