ROCKETS – ‘MCBIRD’ SINGLE RELEASE TAKES FLIGHT

2011 has been a hard-working year for indie-rock four-piece Rockets. After releasing an EP, converting a loyal following in their hometown of Sydney and testing their musical wares interstate, the time has come for their latest offering in new single ‘McBird’.
Recorded at Red Door Studios in Melbourne, Rockets’ latest offering showcases the raw live sound that producer Paul ‘Woody’ Annison brought out on their last release. The single follows on from their debut EP, which was supported strongly by Sydney broadcasters FBi as well as triple j – “I heard (it) blasting on the Unearthed digital channel and loved it right away” – Richard Kingsmill, triple j.
After capitalizing on some excellent local shows in 2011 alongside Jinja Safari and Deep Sea Arcade, Rockets are set for an extremely busy end to their year. The band will be hosting a residency at the Oxford Art Factory’s Gallery Bar in October and November and have been invited by Sydney’s Faker to play as opening support on seven dates of their upcoming national tour.
With an upcoming EP due out in early 2012, ‘McBird’ is just a small preview of what the band has in store. The single will be available online from October 28th, with a limited edition 7” vinyl package due out at the end of the year.
