Spring Skier Release Debut Album, Tour With Andy Bull
August 10th, 2011 | By
Spring Skier has been the side-project of Kane Mazlin and Remy Boccalatte for at least a couple of years now, squeezing jams, the odd gig and recording into the busier than busy schedule of their day job – Hungry Kids of Hungary. Now, with HKoH on their first downtime in three years, Kane and Remy have had the time to polish up their debut album – We Were Astronomers - and are proud to take it out on the road in August/September, touring with Sydney’s Andy Bull on his Phantom Pains Tour.
Originally designed as six-track mini-album, sessions with Brisbane producer Matt Redlich quickly bared more and more fruit until the group of songs that make up the recording simply had to remain together as the one family of songs that make up the album. The result is simply stunning pop-flavoured, harmony-driven, reverb drenched dream-folk reminiscent of the Beach Boys’ more intimate moments, Simon & Garfunkle’s impeccable melodies and Kings of Convenience uplifting undertones.
Spring Skier will be joining Andy Bull on all dates for his Phantom Pains Tour as appearing at a Sunday afternoon LiveSpark show with Bang Bang Boss Kelly with news of a special Brisbane launch still to come.
We Were Astronomers will be available on Friday, August 26.
