CHARLIE MAYFAIR ANNOUNCE TOUR IN SUPPORT OF THEIR NEW SINGLE ‘TELL HER’
July 14th, 2011 | By
The vibrant folk-fired five-piece, Charlie Mayfair, have recently let loose their brand new single ‘Tell Her’. After a few national nods from radio, the time has come for the Brisbane band to pack their bags and take their musical wares interstate. This August, the quintet heads south on an east coast tour celebrating their most momentous release to date.
Charlie Mayfair have won over audiences during the last year with their debut EP Watch My Hands and a swell of shows surrounding it. They have shared the stage with the likes of Old Man River, The Bedroom Philosopher and Skipping Girl Vinegar as well as opening Brisbane’s 2011 Sunset Sounds Festival. The launch of said EP saw Charlie Mayfair impressively fill iconic Brisbane music venue, The Zoo to capacity.
Opportunities to build fan bases interstate were seized, with the band having spent time south for a mixture of their own shows, residencies and sharing the stage with musical mates. Only weeks ago, they supported Sydney-siders Tin Sparrow at their sold out show at The Vanguard with the band citing it as one of their best interstate shows to date.
‘Tell Her’ is the first taste of Charlie Mayfair’s new found direction and rich depth. Exploring new territory has resulted in an authentic, edgier sound placing Charlie Mayfair in a new light. And, it’s getting them noticed with support already shown from youth broadcasters triple j, FBi and SYN Fm. More of this is expected with the impending release of their forthcoming follow-up EP.
This August will be your chance to share a slice of this with the band gracing all the hotspots this side of the country.
“The best thing you’ve done so far. Uplifting and epic.” - Dom Alessio, triple j
“A beautifully produced lush pop track. It’s a little bit epic and a little bit folk at the same time.” – Dan Buhagiar, triple j
“A track for dark days and harsh nights, filled with those pounding drums and heart breaking vocals.” – Who The Hell.
