TIMOTHY CARROLL RETURNS FOR LIMITED RUN OF AUSTRALIAN SHOWS

January 21st, 2011 | By

Having been over six months since he graced an Australian stage after departing for Swedish shores in July, songman Timothy Carroll is finally back, albeit of a brief visit and a handful of intimate and much anticipated headline shows.
While things have been quiet on the local front, anyone who has kept track of Carroll’s distant movements knows they have been anything but for the former Brisbane based artist. Following his relocation to Stockholm, Carroll embraced his remote location and unknown surrounds, playing shows in Berlin, Paris and Stockholm and recording a collection of demos which he has released online under the title The Swedish Tapes.
While in Europe Carroll has also teamed up with the Melbourne/Berlin producer Oscar Dawson (Dukes of Windsor/ Planet Love Sound); a partnership he states has greatly influenced the sound and tempo of the creative output, most notably with the addition of driving percussion and layered soundscapes to his distinctive vocal delivery.

‘It’s been perfect to step outside and write some new tunes in a different part of the world. Berlin particular has a palpable energy and I think this comes across in the recordings.’

The brief tour takes in shows in Melbourne, Byron and Brisbane and will see Carroll teaming up with the electronic dark folk kids of Planet Love sound and Melbourne’s strikingly beautiful Husky.

These shows are a one off as Carroll heads back to Sweden immediately following. To hear some of Timothy’s Swedish tapes or buy tickets to upcoming shows head to timothycarroll.bandcamp.com
