HUNGRY KIDS OF HUNGARY NATIONAL ESCAPADES TOUR

You’d perhaps know Hungry Kids of Hungary best from their string of radio hits in the last 18 or so months – ‘Scattered Diamonds’, ‘Set It Right’, ‘Let You Down’ and most recently ‘Wristwatch’. They’ve made their way around the country numerous times and even embarked on a short international tour playing some landmark shows in the UK and the States. Last week it was announced the band were the latest signing to independent label Stop Start distributed by EMI and now are proud to announce the release of their much-anticipated debut album – Escapades – and a national tour to coincide.
It all started about 18 months ago when triple j announced Hungry Kids of Hungary the Queensland winners of their Unearthed competition that saw the band play Gold Coast’s Big Day Out. A formative tour with Philadelphia Grand Jury and Washington followed as did sought after national support slots with the likes of Bertie Blackman and Little Birdy and festival appearances at Falls, South Bound, Sunset Sounds, Sounds of Spring, Woodford, One Movement and Valley Fiesta, to name a few.
Early 2010 was spent abroad with a toe-in-the-water jaunt to the States – to play at the likes of The Viper Room in Los Angeles and The Mercury Lounge in New York City – as well as the UK where they delivered a stunning pair of sets at The Great Escape festival in Brighton and a handful of shows around London.
And now following the recent bout of sell-out shows on the Shady Haze of Winter tour, Hungry Kids of Hungary return to the road for their biggest headline tour yet, more dates, a brand new set, new songs never played before, bigger venues, bigger crowds and, for the first time, an additional touring member guitarist Remy Boccalatte (Paper & The Plane, Spring Skier).
Joining them will be emerging Melbourne two-piece Big Scary, fresh off the release of their Winter EP, and Brisbane’s Ball Park Music whose latest EP Conquer the Town, Easy As Cake and its uber-popular single ‘iFly’ (you know the one, “I f*cking love you, I think you’re pretty”) will be debuted on the road for their maiden voyage around the nation.
