Finally Melbourne music lovers will get a chance to experience what Brisbane audiences have been selfishly treated to for some time when Brisbane-based troubadour Timothy Carroll takes his live show south for the first time.

2008 saw Carroll establish his place in Brisbane’s live music scene with an ambitious residency in West End which saw crowds piling into an already pack venue or peaking in a window to catch a show that flipped between intimate folk stories to clarinet and cello-soaked blues symphonies.

And while it may seem as though he’s been a little quiet since then, he has found the time to support iconic Australian acts such as Darren Hanlon, Ben Salter, Sime Nugent and Texas Tea as well as completing recording of his debut album.

Produced by Jamie Trevaskis (Texas Tea, Nathan Hollywood, Tom Cooney) at Junkship Studios, the album – entitled For Bread And Circuses – is a masterpiece in songwriting that will finally expose Carroll as one of our best kept secrets. The album, due for release later in the year, includes a vast array of guests that includes Corrina Scanlon, Laura Driver, Kate Jacobson (Texas Tea), Bec Craner and Will Eager (Doch Gypsy Orchestra), Oscar Dawson (Dukes of Windsor and Andy Donald (Kafka).

Melbourne audiences will not only be treated to the lush, stripped back Carroll-sound but also Adrian Stoyles of the Gin Club will play a rare solo show and Melbourne local Lindsay Philips will close the night with his impeccable bag of dark country tricks.
