Brisbane art-rockers Drawn from Bees have set themselves the arduous task of writing, recording and releasing a new batch of music every six months. Proving true to their word, the band will unveil their latest opus And The Blind Shall Lead The Way in March 2009.

Having invoked the curiosity of their audience with a compelling live show and their much-loved storybook 2008 debut EP, The Boy and the Ocean, the quartet have grown their audience in the time-honoured way, by quietly winning people over one show at a time.

Within weeks of its release, The Boy and the Ocean enjoyed support from independent radio stations around the country – most notably Triple R, FBI, Triple Z and Richard Kingsmill’s Triple J flagship show, 2008. Drawn from Bees’ music has even managed to travel as far as being featured on independent radio in the UK and US.

While The Boy and the Ocean contained a single narrative saga, And the Blind Shall Lead the Way is rather an eclectic collection of stories that weave together into a tapestry at once both complex and subtle. These and other tales will be shared with Australian audiences as Drawn from Bees wind their way along the eastern seaboard during the coming months. All stories must be told.

The band will play a very special hometown launch party at the Troubadour Friday, March 13 with support from the infectious bounce of Ball Park Music and emerging femme fatale Chloe Turner. Additionally, they’ve snared the local supports for the upcoming tour from The Devoted Few and have been selected to play the finals of the Garage To V finals – full details below. Stay tuned for an announcement of a full interstate tour.

“Each of these guys’ songs are pretty cool, but the guitar line in this hooks you in straight away. Singer Daniel James sounds right at home on this song too. The hint of prog. in their sound is good too. Rating 4/5.” - Richard Kingsmill, triple J, 10 Nov, 2008

“Wow – has this release thrown my bearings right out the window! I’ve been completely thrown, and I like it.” - Adrian Elmer, Cyclic Defrost, 22 Oct, 2008

“They do a particularly nice job with their anthemic gloominess, beefed up by charming three part harmonies.” - Mitch Alexander, Time Off, 19 Aug, 2008
