HUNGRY KIDS OF HUNGARY ANNOUNCE NEW DATES!

www.myspace.com/hungrykidsofhungary

Hot on the heels of their impressive Big Day Out set on the Local Produce stage where they pulled one of the day’s largest crowds, Hungry Kids of Hungary are about to shake it up once again setting plans in motion for what will undoubtedly be a huge 2009. Firstly with their first round of live dates just being added to the calendar, their debut, self-titled EP will be officially released across the nation on March 7 (through MGM) while brand new recordings are being polished off as you read this.

The boys will be mixing it up – joining sassy, pop chanteuse Kate Miller-Heidke for a trio of shows in South-East Queensland, including the Gold Coast, Byron Bay and Lake Kawana. They’ll also be making a special appearance at Brisbane’s The Troubadour to play the venue’s return of The Late Show, a sharp set starting at 1am. Yes, that’s right – after the last cord has died down at any other venue in town, Brisbane’s most dedicated music lovers will be able to venture to the cosy surroundings of The Troubadour and check out one of their new favourite bands in the wee hours of the morning!

Good news also for the band’s lead single, ‘Set It Right’ – it has gained a healthy momentum over the last couple of months and having recently achieved even more than a healthy dose of airplay on Triple J, it has officially ranked on the stations Hit List.

In addition to this current hub of hyperactive-activity, finishing touches are also currently being put on HKoH’s very exciting lineup for their first extensive interstate tour in March/April (dates to be announced soon!).

CURRENT GIG DATES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Saturday, February 7, One AM Session | The Troubadour, Brisbane (QLD)

Friday, February 27 | Coolangatta Hotel, Gold Coast (QLD)
Supporting Kate Miller-Heidke with Washington

Saturday, February 28 | Great Norther Hotel, Byron Bay
Supporting Kate Miller-Heidke with Very Unique Existence

Brisbane’s Hungry Kids of Hungary are going from strength to strength and have just experienced one of the most productive weekends a young band can have. Heading into the studio with producer Matt Redlich on the weekend, the lads impresively churned out two songs which will form a digital double A-side single release to be released very soon. Then it was onto Gold Coast’s Big Day Out where they played a brilliant set to a surprisingly large crowd of early comers. Guitarist Dean McGrath was interviewed on-air by Triple J Sarah Howells post set where he revealed the band’s first interstate tour is just around the corner – watch this space!

Yep, that;s real milk being dropped rather stratregically on the head of Brisbane’s Tara Simmons – three whole litres of it in fact. So why this disrespectful waste of nature’s own white gold? Well, it’s all in honour of the muchly anticipated news that the musician will finally be releasing her debut album entitled Spilt Milk. The album is a year in the making and sees the muchly-praised artist but her music where her accolades are with 10 superb tracks.

We won’t go on anymore but Brisbane folk can pick up a copy of the album when she launches it in style at the Judith Wrigh Centre Saturday, Feb 14. Yes, it’s Valentine’s Day but it’s a comfortable show and it’s an early one so all you love birds can get home quickly and do whatever it is love birds do on such an evening. Interstate audiences, stay tuned as Tara will announce a fully blown tour very soon.

Spilt Milk – Album Launch
Saturday, Feb 14 – 7:30pm SHARP | The Judith Wright Centre
420 Brunswick Street | Fortitude Valley
with special guest Dan Parsons

While Brisbane trouble-maker Edward Guglielmino has been know to stir a pot or two, an unexpected controversy of its own raised its ugly head last week. Corporate giant General Electric sent Ed G a message asking him to cease using a rip-off of their logo (pictured above) to promote his own career. While we at MB will try and keep it somewhat professionally above board, you can read Ed’s rundown on his MySpace blog – www.myspace.com/edwardguglielmino and before you ask, yes it’s all true.

In other Ed G news, there is now a video for single ‘Fail With Me’ hot off the press and viewable HERE. The video was created by Brisbane film maker Jaymis Loveday and features Ed’s producer and partner in musical crime Matt Redlich. ‘Rhythm Of Life’, another single from Ed’s recently released album Late At Night has been garnering a few spins on Triple J – please continue showing your support.

You can catch Ed in the coming weeks at these dates:

Saturday, Jan 24 | The Empress (Melbourne)
Sunday, Jan 25 | Pure Pop Records (Melbourne) – solo set
Sunday, Feb 1 | The Fringe Bar (Sydney)
Saturday, Feb 28 | Letter Box Lullabys (Mailing list invites only) (Brisbane)
