Timothy Carroll's December Shows

Those who attended any of the weekly September Sessions at The Joynt will be familiar with Timothy Carroll who is quickly becoming a local beloved favourite. Many words come to mind to describe his music; perceptive, passionate, homey, honest, charming, meaningful – but it’s perhaps best described by Carroll himself simply as, ‘maybe music to bake cakes on a rainy day to’.

Following on from the extremely well received September Sessions this December will see Carroll join up with another of Brisbane’s most talented songwriters, Jackie Marshall to host the December Sessions, once again being held at The Joynt.

With the focus firmly on the music, the December Sessions will feature songwriters going head to head every Tuesday in December in a quest for solace, meaning and good cheer. The Sessions will also feature Danny Widdicombe (fresh from the Wilson Pickers tour) and Ben Salter (The Gin Club) doing their solo projects and treating us to some world-class collaborations.

The Joynt is situated under the 1936-built William Jolly Bridge, coddled in Parmalat Milk Factory truck ambiance and West End fringedom, and is the only true Artists & Workers pub in Brisbane. The night will cost just $5 to cover to paying the musicians and sound guy and the artists involved are also keen to encourage cycling and can’t wait to see a herd of bikes chained to the poles of Montague Road as the summer night air blows through Brisbane.

To help plug the shows, Carroll will feature on Brisbane radio 4zZz ever Sunday in December alongside that week’s featured guest.

In other Carroll- related new, he will join one of his (and many others) favourite artists, Darren Hanlon, for his infamous end of year Christmas show on Sunday, December 21st at The Old Museum. Punters can expect a night of Christmas themed merry-making along with Hanlon’s usual charming pop which effortlessly captures the heart and soul of contemporary Australia. To mark the event Carroll will be playing in full band mode for the show which will be his last until April 2009.
