Timothy Carroll's September Sessions

Local troubadour Timothy Carroll has taken on a residency at South Brisbane’s The Joynt every Wednesday in September. Dubbed the September Sessions, these free live shows will see the talented Carroll hosting the nights but will also offer an eclectic, star-swollen revolving door of Brisbane talent including Ben Salter (Gin Club), Kate Jacobson (Texas Tea), Jacky Marsh, Edward Guglielmino, Cameron Elliott, Marty Brown, Mio min Mio and Duck.

This residency is an exciting project for me,” says Carroll. “I have been putting all my spare time into working on it. One of my favourite recordings of all time is Jeff Buckley’s Live At Sine and I loved the stories of Jeff playing that residency at times to only one or two punters at other times he packed the place out and had people lining up in the streets. So I have always loved the idea of a residency – it gives the audience an opportunity to get to know a musician and vice versa.”

Carroll is currently in the studio with Jamie Travaskis at Junkship Records, recording an album in “characteristic Jamie style”. This means beautiful vintage ribbon mics and reel-to-reel tape machines. The September Sessions will be a good opportunity to road test some song and lay some groundwork for the launch later in the year.
